Grégoire Lemoult — CNRS Researcher

Since 2019, I am a CNRS researcher at Laboratoire Ondes et Milieux complexes (UMR CNRS 6294). I am leading the Instabilities and Transition to Turbulence team.

I studied physics, chemistry and biology at ESPCI in Paris before specializing in fluid mechanics. I spend my PhD studying the transition to turbulence in plane Poiseuille flow at the PMMH laboratory. Then I moved to Austria to work with Björn Hof at the IST Austria where I looked at the transition to turbulence in the Taylor-Couette system from a statistical physics perspective. Finally, I went to The University of Manchester revisiting the Saffman–Taylor instability. Using ideas coming from the transition to turbulence, we have shed new light on the unsteady propagation of air bubbles in a viscous fluid.
